8th January 2020

Today, I completed fitting a new 4-bow bimini to 'Sandpiper'.

This kit was bought from Kaiser Boating:

The height of the supports was modified to ensure the bimini could be raised with the boom in the lowered position: if I haven't got it quite right, I can lower it further if necessary.

Sandpiper finds a new home!

After 10 years locked away in a shed, 'SANDPIPER' came out into the sunlight once again in late March 2019!

Her previous owner had decided it was time to let her go - and I was the lucky new skipper! I found her in the 'For Sale' column of Gumtree, and after several visits to acquaint myself, the deal was struck and she was on her way back to Meadow Springs, in Mandurah WA.

It wasn't long before I had her looking a million dollars in her handsome red, white and blue livery, and decorated her with an appropriate image of her namesake.

Eager to launch, Sandpiper tasted water again a week later, when I took her out for her 1st voyage with me as Skipper on the calm waters of Mandurah's Peel Estuary.

It was a glorious late summer's day, with hardly a breath of wind, so we motored to a local jetty at Boundary Island, where I snapped a few more pics.
